Customer Provided Cookie

Description

By default a visitor's id is provided by a request to a data collection server for wtid.js. The visitor id is then assigned to a Webtrends Query Parameter (WT.co_f).

The Use a customer provided cookie with this name check box causes the visitor id to be read from a customer's first party cookie whose name is specified in the accompanying text box. This work is performed by a function named dcsOther.

Examples

Suppose a customer wants to identify visitors using their own cookie named CUST_ID that contains 10 alpha characters. By enabling the Customer Provided Cookie check box and setting the name field to CUST_ID, the visitor identifier is seeded using CUST_ID values.

Customer First Party Cookie:
CUST_ID=abcdefghij

Webtrends Query Parameter:
WT.co_f=abcdefghij

Webtrends First Party Cookie:
WT_FPC=id=abcdefghij:lv=1193955539841:ss=1193955539841
